UC Davis MyBill
2021
Purpose: For this project, I was tasked with redesigning the UC Davis student payment portal, MyBill. MyBill provides students with information on tuition and housing account balances, in addition to facilitating account payments.
Audience: The student or guardian that is paying quarterly tuition
Processes: I conducted an analysis of the previous website then used that research to influence my final redesign.
Login Page
The login page was stripped down to the bare minimum required for a user to log in from any type of device. All of the content previously on the login page was moved to separate tabs within the logged-in pages, in addition to a separate FAQ page.
Home Page
The focus of this page was to ensure easy navigation to content. Also, the most commonly used features are brought to the main page to allow for quicker interaction time.
Payments Page
For payments, I wanted to allow for more details to be shown per payment made, similar to the summary from a credit card statement. I also wanted to provide access to up to two years worth of payment history, further developing transparency between the user and university.

This image could be used to build awareness of an upcoming website redesign. This could be used in newsletters or on social media platforms.
Reflection
What went well?
Created a clear and simple header and menu allowing for navigation throughout the billing portal. I utilized UC Davis colors and branding to create a cohesive aesthetic design that represents the school well. I also felt that I understood the issues felt by students using the current billing portal, which gave me ideas on how to fix it.
What if I had more time?
If I had to choose another feature to add, a search functionality or review of previous activity could be useful. This would help the user view their transaction history. I also would have liked to create a more detailed checkout.
What lessons did I learn?
Conduct competitor analysis to view how other transactional sites distinguish their user’s journey
